Gas can be very dangerous if not treated with respect, be familiar with these safety and money saving tips.

Saving Money

Always have your appliances serviced every 12 months, this can save money on running costs. Turning your thermostat down a few degrees can save you money, as can switching gas supplier to a cheaper tariff.

Having Work Done

Always make sure you have work done by Gas Safe engineers. Check ID to ensure it is valid, and if possible cross check the details on the Gas Safe website. Remember it is illegal for you to work on gas appliances yourself.


Always make sure your gas appliances are serviced on a regular basis - not only does this keep you safe, properly serviced appliances can save you money. If you are a tenant make sure you landlords gas safety certificate(s) are up to date.

Smell Gas?

If you smell GAS- turn off gas supply at the meter, open all doors and windows to ventilate area, do not use naked flames, smoke or switch on or off any light switches or sockets. call TRANSCO 0800 111 999

Remember a faulty gas appliance can kill - Carbon Monoxide is odourless and tasteless.

Be safe - always have a carbon monoxide detector fitted for all open vented boilers and gas fires, ask us for advice.
